In the early 1980s, Frank Bealby (Walter's son) recommended to Alan Bealby (Frank's nephew) that he should retain all the Bealby ledgers for safe keeping. They were being stored on a dusty shelf in the larder in Brook House. There are 4 volumes, beautifully written, itemising all repairs/ sales and the farm they were for. George Bealby (Frank's brother) recalls they got pocket money for walking the ploughs back to the farms.

Extensive research on the journals has been carried out by Jeromy Lodge of the Thoroton Society. His work can be read in the Article Section - The Thoroton Society

A study into the sales and repairs of Bealby Ploughs between 1871 to 1882

Jeromy Lodge has also discovered that a Dr Mills did extensive study work into the sales and repairs of Bealby Ploughs during the period 1871 to 1882. The research illustrates the volume of trade and geography over which the ploughs were sold.
